Once Upon a Time is an American fairy tale drama television series created by Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, who also serve as executive producers alongside Steve Pearlman. It debuted on ABC on October 23, 2011. The first season introduces a bail bond agent, Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) and her birth-son, Henry (Jared S. Gilmore) who discover that a New England town, aptly named Storybrooke, Maine, is actually a remnant of a parallel world that was cursed by the Evil Queen/Regina Mills (Lana Parrilla) and that all the characters from the fairy tales have no memories of who they were, including the parents of Emma: Snow White/Mary Margaret Blanchard (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Prince Charming/David Nolan (Josh Dallas), who sent her to the real world to save their world and break the curse. Following the curse being eventually broken by Emma, Rumplestiltskin/Mr. Gold (Robert Carlyle) brings magic to Storybrooke and the characters reunite as their true selves. Crossing the border surrounding Storybrooke will remove the inhabitants' fairy tale memories again. David strives to retrieve his daughter and wife from the Enchanted Forest, Regina contends with her powerful mother Cora (Barbara Hershey), Mr. Gold and Emma find his son Baelfire - only to discover he is Henry's father - under his real-world alias Neal Cassidy (Michael Raymond-James), and outsiders Greg Mendell (Ethan Embry) and Tamara (Sonequa Martin-Green) attempt to destroy the magic in Storybrooke. After failing to do so, the pair kidnap Henry and take him to Neverland. Emma, Mary Margaret, David, Regina, and Mr. Gold join Captain Hook (Colin O'Donoghue) on his ship to travel through a portal to rescue Henry. In Neverland, Peter Pan (Robbie Kay), who is later revealed as Rumplestiltskin's father, keeps possession of Henry with help from the Lost Boys. The group eventually manage to rescue Henry and return to Storybrooke, only to be returned to the Enchanted Forest after Pan enacts the original dark curse, forcing Regina to reverse her own. Emma and Henry escape to New York City, while the remaining characters face Zelena, the Wicked Witch of the West (Rebecca Mader), and her revenge plan against her half-sister Regina. Brought back to a recreated Storybrooke, Zelena attempts to enact a time-travelling spell to change the past, forcing Emma to accept her role as "the savior" once more and save her family and friends. Once Upon a Time was renewed for a fourth season on May 8, 2014, which premiered on September 28, 2014. As of March 29, 2015[83 episodes of Once Upon a Time have aired.
